The Vishuddhi Chakra is located in the throat. His Mantra is HAM. Even though Vishuddha Chakra is commonly depicted in the color blue, its color is purple. but that in no way changes its role and its attributes. In this Chakra, our consciousness reaches the fifth level. Its corresponding element is Akasha (space). We can also translate this word as “ether”, which suggests that this space must be filled with energy. The Vishuddhi Chakra is the starting point of Udana Prana. This has a function of purifying the body to rid it of toxic substances during breathing. The name of this Chakra is derived from this particular function. Purification does not only occur at the bodily level, but also at the psychic and mental levels. All the problems and all the unpleasant experiences that we have “swallowed up” and suppressed during our lifetime continue to exist in the subconscious until they are wisely faced and resolved.

The Divinity of Vishuddhi Chakra is Brahma, the Creator, the symbol of consciousness. In meditation, when the individual consciousness dissolves into Akasha, we attain Knowledge and Wisdom. The animal that represents Vishuddhi Chakra is the white elephant. We also find in its pictorial representation the moon, symbol of the spirit.

The Vishuddhi Chakra generates an unlimited feeling of joy and freedom which allows our abilities and skills to flourish. With this stage of development manifests a clear voice, oratorical and lyrical talent, as well as balance and mental calm.

Until the Chakra is fully developed, certain difficulties may be experienced. Blockages in Vishuddhi Chakra produce feelings of anxiety, lack of freedom, restriction, thyroid and throat problems. Difficulties in swallowing or speaking, which are not related to physical causes, may occur.

In the symbolic representation of Vishuddhi Chakra is a lotus with sixteen petals. They represent the sixteen potential abilities (Klas) that a human being can develop. As Vishuddhi Chakra is the center of sound, the number sixteen can also represent the sixteen vowels of the Sanskrit alphabet. Vak Siddhi can be realized in this center, it is the extraordinary ability that makes the words spoken by someone come true.
